ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

PROGRAMME AIMS AND FEATURES

The BBA and BBA(Acc&Fin) programmes share the same JUPAS code. Upon admission to the University, students are required to enrol in either one of these programmes.

The BBA programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business design and innovation, wealth management, human resource management or marketing. It combines strong functional training with intensive exposure to communication skills, computer applications, plus other social sciences and/or science subjects. In the second year of the programme, students can choose to major in business design and innovation, wealth management, human resource management, or marketing. Students may also select a second major if they are able to complete the stated requirements.

The Business Design and Innovation major is designed for students who aspire to be entrepreneurs or management specialists who can design, innovate and market new products and services through creative thinking. It allows students to develop a deep reserve of multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills conducive to creativity and innovation, and thus provides an opportunity for students to discover their true interest in the interface between business and other disciplines.

The Wealth Management major prepares students for careers as bankers, fund managers and investment consultants. The courses combines the most up-to-date ideas pertaining to these areas with the application of the concepts within the Asia-Pacific context.

The Human Resource Management major trains students to manage human resources in both profit and non-profit organisations. The courses are designed to prepare students to become members of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management.

The Marketing major prepares students for careers in advertising, brand management, customer relationship management, and marketing management in multinational and local companies. A distinctive feature is its focus on active-learning and responsive decision-making. All graduating students are equipped with cutting-edge marketing knowledge that enables them to proactively explore opportunities in the rapidly changing and globalising marketplace.

The BBA(Acc&Fin) programme prepares students for a professional qualification in accounting and provides the broad-based education necessary to progress toward a leadership role in the financial sector. Tailor-made professional preparation programmes as well as internship opportunities with renowned accounting firms and financial institutions are available for talented students. In addition, students are strongly encouraged to participate in overseas exchange programme.

The BBA(Acc&Fin) programme is also accredited as an approved accountancy programme by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and CPA Australia. Graduates of the BBA(Acc&Fin) programme are recognised by the HKICPA as accountancy degree holders who have fulfilled the stipulated pre-entry educational requirements. They can be qualified as professional accountants by successfully completing the HKICPA Qualification Programme (QP) and obtaining the relevant work experience. They are also eligible to obtain maximum exemptions from professional examinations organised by the ACCA, and need to take only five papers. They can be qualified as members of the ACCA by successfully completing the required examinations and obtaining the relevant work experience.

Students of the BBA and BBA(Acc&Fin) programmes are normally required to complete 60 credit units in each academic year. To complete the whole curriculum, students have to complete 180 credit units, which is approximately equivalent to 30 six-credit courses. In addition to their major field of study, students of the BBA and BBA(Acc&Fin) programmes can also choose to minor in other disciplines by taking approved courses in their second and third years of study.

The BBA/BBA(Acc&Fin) programme is designed for students intending to pursue a career in fields such as accounting, advertising, banking, brand management, customer relationship management, finance, human resource management, information systems, investment, marketing research and marketing management.
