ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Grade E or above in at least one subject from the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Applications, Applied Mathematics, Computer Studies, Pure Mathematics.
PROGRAMME AIMS AND FEATURES
The BBA(IS)/BEng(CompSc) programme is designed to give students a unique edge in the IT world by providing training in the fields of both business administration and information technology. It is jointly offered by the School of Business and the Department of Computer Science, and consists of a mixture of business and computer science courses.
Students of the BBA(IS) programme are required to complete 195 credit units for the whole curriculum. Graduates of the programme may choose to undertake one more year of study to complete the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science (BEng[CompSc]) in the Faculty of Engineering.
Students enrolled in the BBA(IS) programme may pursue two degrees, BBA(IS) and BEng(CompSc), over four years. The BBA(IS)/BEng(CompSc) double-degree programme blends two strategic disciplines into a single programme for the ambitions and highly motivated. The programme is suitable for students seeking a broader education with a degree of flexibility in their choice of future careers.
Fees Implication
Graduates of the BBA(IS) programme who would like to do the optional year should note that the fourth year programme is offered on a self-financing basis, which means that the tuition fee for that year will be higher than the standard fee applicable to the Government-funded programmes. The exact amount will be announced at by May/June each year. Students enrolled in this optional year of study may apply for financial assistance under the Government Non-means-tested Loan Scheme, subject to the prevailing regulations of the Scheme.
CAREER PROSPECTS
The BBA(IS)/BEng(CompSc) double-degree programme is designed for students who are interested in becoming IT entrepreneurs, information systems/technology specialists and consultants in the modern business.
