Such systems are needed to meet the needs of industrial marketing and product development, including services, business, government, and manufacturing organisations. Graduates of this programme can expect interesting, challenging, and rewarding careers. Since Hong Kong is evolving into a logistics centre and an innovation and technology centre, local companies are becoming more agile, flexible, and highly adaptive to global market demands. Graduates are equipped to become industrial engineers and technology managers of the future, and to assume crucial roles by being able to deploy human and technical resources in designing new infrastructure. Graduates can also apply their system integration skills to promote information technology and innovation so as to produce and deliver various products and services.
Many graduates from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering already occupy key positions as technology managers in local industry. Graduates are also sought by many local manufacturing corporations, service and commercial enterprises, management consulting firms, and government agencies.
A recent survey showed that 89% fresh graduates from the Department had full-time jobs by the end of September in the year of graduation. On average, each student received 2.3 job offers, and about 26% received 3 to 8 offers.
