ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
There are no additional entrance requirements for admission to the programme*, but candidates should preferably have obtained a Grade E or above in Chemistry in HKCEE.
Selection Criteria
For JUPAS applicants, preference is given to those who list the BChinMed degree as a Band A choice. For non-JUPAS applicants, those who list the BChinMed degree as their first choice will be considered.
Preference for admission is given to local candidates but, in exceptional circumstances, a few overseas applicants may be selected. All applicants, both local and overseas, are expected to have a good working knowledge of Cantonese and English. A good command of Putonghua is an advantage during the fifth year supervised clinical clerkship in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospitals in Mainland China. Courses will be made available for those students who wish to enhance their Putonghua proficiency.
* To satisfy the University's entrance requirements, applicants are normally required to have at least a Grade D or better in AS Use of English. This programme is however prepared to admit academically talented students who may have additional English language needs. Applicants with good grades in HKALE subjects but with Grade E in AS Use of English will also be considered, on the understanding that these applicants, if selected for admission, will have to attend special English language courses to strengthen their English language proficiency.
Interviews
Interviews for non-JUPAS applicants will normally be held in April, June, July and August.
The interviews are aimed at evaluating the applicants' suitability for studying Chinese medicine, including their motivation, enthusiasm, compassion, social awareness, sense of responsibility, communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
