INTERNATIONAL
STUDENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS
Although
our tuition fees at HKU are very low by international standards
(especially considering that the University of Hong kong ranks as
the best university
in the whole of Asia (and 26th in the world) according to the latest QS rankings, and has the best
Business School in the whole of Asia and Australia according to
the 2005 Economist Intelligence Unit), we are also prepared to give
scholarships, for the top-ranking students according to academic achievement, which will cover the costs not only of tuition fees, but university accommodation and living expenses as well. This is partly to reward such
students for all their hard work over their school years, and partly
to ensure that many of the top students come to HKU. In many other cases, we may offer you a scholarship which may vary from HK$10,000 to HK$100,000.
The scholarships are payable
each year of your three year undergraduate degree assuming that
you make good academic progress as you go from year to year at HKU.
For
Indian Nationals, who do not have an Hong Kong ID card and who apply
from a high school in India, there are special scholarships
for you. These are the result of an extremely generous donation
from Mr. Hiro Dayaram and his family. Application form for the Dayaram Scholarship for Students from India can be downloaded here.
There are special scholarships for students from some countries, and for IB and UWC students. Full details may be obtained by emailing our counsellors at intl@hku.hk.

You may wish to note that the HKU tuition fees are very low by international standards because of our Government's support for the development of Hong Kong as an educational hub for students from around the world. It has similarly agreed that students can undertake part-time work on campus dring the semester to help supplement their income, and can work during the summer vacation in the city. Graduates may also take up full-time employment upon finishing their HKU studies..
