History
The Department of Anatomy, established in 1912, is a full member of the Faculty of Medicine with commitments also to the teaching of students in the Faculty of Dentistry. The department numbers over 100 at present. The full-time academic staff
establishment currently comprises 1 Chair Professor, 3 Professors, 6
Associate Professors and 4 Assistant Professors. This staff is supported by a technical staff of 16 and an
administrative staff of 4.
11 postdoctoral fellows and a number of research assistants hold fixed term contracts of varying duration and
30 students are registered for the research degrees of Ph.D. and M.Phil.
and 4 working on M.Med.Sc. degrees. The department is located in the Faculty of Medicine Building close to the University's main teaching hospital, Queen Mary. On the same site are the Yu Chun Keung Medical Library and the Laboratory Animal Unit.
