Internship Openings
in CLP Research Institute:
-
Possible postings
with CLP Research Institute, under a newly created Project Scope "Technology
Research" in the programme. They would consider applicants from engineering
and science discipline with excellent academic performance, preferably
a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In the year 2003, they hired 4 summer interns and
1 sandwich intern from local universities in Hong Kong. The students were
able to study and deliver research topics including renewable energy policy,
solar photovoltaics, energy storage and clean coal technology. They also
completed a joint project with ideas created by their own.
-
Position 1: Sandwich
Interns (2 vacancies). One intern will be assigned to collect, screen,
verify and analyse data for our upcoming technology research project. It
will require the intern to undertake data mining and statistical analysis.
The ideal candidate should have excellent academic performance in mathematical/statistical
subjects, with strong interest and background knowledge on energy systems.
Another intern will be assigned to support the content development and
usability enhancement of a web-based knowledge sharing portal. This on-going
project will require the intern to conduct internet research, information
compilation, content verification and web page production. The ideal candidate
should have excellent academic performance and strong interest in learning
energy-related topics, as well as practical IT skills and experience
in web site production.
-
Position 2: Summer
Interns (several vacancies). Each summer intern will receive a topic assignment
and collect information from internet research, to support the web-based
knowledge sharing portal. Guidance and supervision will be provided by
a mentor in CLP Research Institute. The ideal candidates are undergraduates
studying engineering or science subjects with excellent academic performance
and strong interest in internet research and web page production, who would
like to work in teams and share knowledge. Our topic ideas for 2004:
air quality, biomass/biofuel, combined heat and power, customer interface
technology, distributed resources, electromagnetic field health effects,
hydrogen energy, insulation and conducting materials (such as superconductors),
intelligent energy management system, knowledge management, load monitoring,
power electronics, power quality, power system dynamics, renewable energy
- green marketing, and renewable energy resource assessment, etc.
-
All interested
students should fill out the attached application form and respond directly
to CLP Internship Programme at CIP@clp.com.hk. Applicants should indicate
in their email if they have submitted applications to other project scopes
under CLP Internship Programme.
