Where did the 1996 B.A. (Arch.Stud.) graduates go?

I. Introduction

The information contained in this paper is extracted from the Graduate Employment Survey of 1996 to answer the following questions about B.A. (Arch. Stud.) graduates : -

II. Employment Situation in 1996

Out of 65 B.A. (Arch. Stud.) graduates, 50 responded to our survey, representing a response rate of 77%. Of these, 94% were in full-time employment within six months of graduation. The remaining 6% (or 3 graduates) went on for further studies. (Table 1)

III.Further Studies

Table 2 shows the programme of study pursued by the graduates who took up further studies, and Table 3 shows the source of finance.

IV. Time Taken to Secure Employment

All those who were in full-time employment secured their first job offer before the end of September (Figure 1).

VI. Basic Salary and Gross Income

On average, the 1996 graduates received a higher income than their predecessors in the previous year. (Table 4)

VII.Number of Full-Time Job Offers

62% of the 1996 graduates who were in full-time employment received more than one job offer (Figure 4). On average, each graduate received 1.9 job offers, compared with 1.7 last year.
