Where did the 1995 M.B.,B.S. graduates go?

I. Introduction

The information contained in this paper is extracted from the Graduate Employment Survey of 1996 to answer the following questions about 1995 M.B.,B.S. graduates who had finished their internships in 1996: -

II. Employment Situation in 1995

Out of 122 M.B.,B.S. graduates, 98 responded to our survey, representing a response rate of 80%. Of these, 99% were in full-time employment within six months of graduation. The remaining 1% left Hong Kong. (Table 1)

III. Time Taken to Secure Employment

91% of the graduates were able to secure their first job offer before the end of September 1996. (Figure 1)

IV. Employment Sectors

91% of the medical graduates were employed by The Hospital Authority. 4.1% worked in the Department of Health. 4.1% (or 4 graduates) were in private practice.

V. Basic Salary and Gross Income

The remuneration received by 1995 M.B.,B.S. graduates is shown in Table 2.
