Where did the 1996 B.Ed. (Primary Education) graduates go?

I. Introduction

The information contained in this paper is extracted from the Graduate Employment Survey of 1996 to answer the following questions about B.Ed. (Primary Education) majors : -

II. Employment Situation in 1996

Out of 40 B.Ed. (Primary Education) graduates, 33 responded to our survey, representing a response rate of 83%. All the respondents were in full-time employment within six months of graduation. (Table 1)

III. Time Taken to Secure Employment

All the graduates in full-time employment secured the first job offer before the end of September 1996. (Figure 1)

IV. Employment Sectors

All of the 33 B.Ed. (Primary Education) graduates in full-time employment were employed in the education sector. (Figure 2)

V. Basic Salary and Gross Income

Table 2 shows the average income of 1996 B.Ed. (Primary Education) graduates in full-time employment.

VI. Number of Full-Time Job Offers

76% of the graduates in full-time employment had more than one job offer. In fact, 42% reported having received three or more job offers (Figure 3). On average, each graduate received 2.5 job offers.
