IntroductionThe information contained in this paper is extracted from the Graduate Employment Survey of 1997 to answer the following questions about B.A. (Architectural Studies) graduates : -
II. Employment Situation in 1997
Out of 69 B.A. (Architectural Studies) graduates, 56 responded to our survey, representing a response rate of 81%. Of these, 89% (or 50 graduates) were in full-time employment within six months of graduation. The remaining 11% (or 6 graduates) went on for further studies. (Table 1)

III. Further Studies
Six graduates pursued postgraduate studies in the same discipline as their first degree. All of them took up a Master (coursework) programme in local tertiary institutions. Table 2 shows the academic programme B.A. (Architectural Studies) graduates were engaged in and Table 3 shows the source of finance.

IV. Time Taken to Secure Employment
Among those graduates who were in full-time employment, 76% secured their first job offer before the end of June. The percentage increased to 100% by the end of September. Compared with last year, the graduates took less time to secure employment. (Figure 1)

V. Employment Sectors
Most (96% or 48 graduates) of the graduates were employed in the commerce and industry. The remaining 4% (or 2 graduates) joined the education sector. (Figures 2 & 3)

VI. Basic Salary and Gross Income
The remuneration received by 1997 B.A. (Architectural Studies) graduates is shown in Table 4.

VII. Number of Full-Time Job Offers
Of those in full-time employment, 64% of the graduates had more than one job offer. 34% reported having received three to eight or more job offers. Compared with 1.9 last year, each graduate received 2.3 job offers on average. (Figure 4)
