President's Message
Comparative education is a vigorous and exciting field, with both academic and practical applications. The forces of globalisation have brought new thrusts, and have emphasised even more strongly the importance of cross-national perspectives in educational endeavours.
The World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES) is a major force within the field. It brings together scholars and practitioners in national, sub-national, regional and language-based societies, and provides a forum through which different groups can learn from each other and promote understanding of the forces which shape education systems, processes and outcomes. The WCCES was created in 1970, and has itself evolved in exciting ways over the decades.
