CICID*
was established at The University of Hong
Kong in partnership
with construction industry leaders, to address
parallel and pressing needs for both ‘infrastructure
development’ and ‘construction
industry development’. The twin imperatives
for the sustainable development of our infrastructure
and our construction industry, are by no means
limited to Hong Kong, nor indeed to China or
Asia.
Developed countries are struggling to deal
with the rehabilitation or replacement
of their older infrastructure, while developing
countries are scrambling to meet rapid
demands
for new infrastructure. Secondly construction
industry reforms remain another hot topic
worldwide, as countries strive to improve
industry systems, cultures, quality, health & safety
and overall value; while reducing project
costs and durations, accidents, disputes
and any elements of corruption.
We invite those interested in the above
issues to join CICID in our quest for sustainable
value and continuous developments. You
are welcome to join in our research projects,
events and activities. For example, you
may
link up with our Task Forces on themes
such as ‘Public Private Partnerships’; ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Construction
Law’, or join specific events that
are publicised from time to time.
