Existing research on the world city phenomenon has
concentrated on characterising and ranking such cities
in the context of the global economy. No institution
elsewhere has clearly emerged as a focal point for comparative
world city research and few attempts have been made
to link concepts of sustainability with the pursuit
of world city status. The overall aim of the SWCP is
to develop analytical frameworks for comparative world
city research from a sustainability perspective. Our
principal focus is on established and emerging world
cities in the Asia-Pacific Region.
