Anthony Yeh joined the Centre in 1981 after working as a research officer of the Strategic Planning Unit of the Hong Kong Government. His main areas of specialization are urban development and redevelopment in Hong Kong, China, and S.E. Asia, and the applications of geographic/land information systems in urban and regional planning. He has carried out research and published widely in international publications in his research areas. He has been Chairman of the Hong Kong Geographical Association, Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP), Vice President of the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP), Programme Director of the Geographic/Land Information Technology Programme of the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP). He is at present Chairman of the Geographic Information Science Study Group of the International Geographic Union (IGU), Secretary-General of the Asian Planning Schools Association (APSA), and Immediate Past-President of the Hong Kong Geographic Information System Association. He is also honorary professor at various major universities and research institutes in China, including Institute of Geography, Beijing; Tongji University, Shanghai; Guangzhou Institute of Geography, Guangzhou; and Zhongshan University, Guangzhou. Apart from working in Hong Kong and China, he has done fieldwork in Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. He has been invited to attend many expert group meetings of the United Nations Centre of Regional Development (UNCRD) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He has conducted many CPD training courses on urban planning and management and geographic information systems in Hong Kong and China. Anthony Yeh has served on various planning related bodies of the Hong Kong Government. At present he is member of the Planners Registration Board and the Transport Advisory Committee.

Local and international consultancy projects include Siu Chai Wan Development Investigation Feasibility Study for the Hong Kong Government (with LG Mouchel & Partners (Asia) and YRM International (Hong Kong)); Hawker Study for Urban Services Department, Hong Kong Government; Social Planning for the Redevelopment of Kwun Tong Town Centre for the Land Development Corporation (with Llewelyn Davies); Criteria and Strategy of Community Studies in Urban Redevelopment for the Land Development Corporation; Community Study and Computer Mapping for Tai Kok Tsui Urban Renewal Study, Planning Department, Hong Kong Government (with Townland Consultants Ltd.); Towards Land Management Reform in Shanghai: A Case Study of the Central Core, with Chreod development planning consultants for Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Institute and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA); Economic Reform Policies and Infrastructure Planning for Pudong, Shanghai, with Chreod development planning consultants for Asian Development Bank. He has been invited to participate in many expert group meetings on master plans of Chinese cities, such as Guangzhou, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen.
