The Memorandum of Collaboration
Signing Ceremony between The University of Hong Kong and Harvard
School of Public Health was organized by the Medical and Health
Research Network on September 27, 2003. The partnership between
both institutions dated back to year 2001, where the first Memorandum
of Collaboration was signed to jointly organize Executive training
programmes for medical and health care professionals in the Greater
China region.
To further reinforce
the collaborative effort of the two institutions in developing Hong
Kong as a regional centre for training and research in health reform,
a second agreement was concluded on September 27, 2003 with the
ultimate aim to train medical and health care professionals to optimize
resources available in the organization of health care systems.
The renewal of Memorandum
of Collaboration has signified the commitment of both institutions
in advancing the health of populations and in health care policy
analysis. With this second agreement, it is certain that there will
be increasing academic exchanges for joint executive training programmes,
staff and student exchange, as well as in developing researches
in the field of public health.
The Signing Ceremony
was officiated by Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, Vice-Chancellor, Professor
SP Chow, Convenor of Medical and Health Research Network, Professor
PC Ho, Acting Dean of Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Barry R
Bloom, Dean of Harvard School of Public Health.
We are indeed very honoured
to have the presence of Dr PY Lam, Director of Health, and Dr TH
Leung, Deputy Director of Health, to witness the continuing collaboration
between HKU and Harvard in promoting health and quality of care
in the community.
