The Biopharmaeutical Developpment Centre was established in July 2003 through a collaborative effort of Medical and Science Facultites at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) to focus on the facilitation of drug development and commercialization activities at the University.The BDC acts as a bridge linking Academia and Industry. Lerveraging available intellectual and financial resources, the BDC endeavours to channel promising basic research results towards commercialization and accelerates product development for the benefit of all.
Taking advantages of its unique position, knowledge and understanding of university research activities and extensive industry and scientific networks, the BDC acts as a bridge in bringing together different collaborators, both locally and internationally.
The BDC offers practical advise and expertise to HKU researchers on commercialization and drug development matters, it also plays an important role in technology transfer and industrial protection activities resulting from data generated from the collaborations.
