The association of "Friends of Institut Pasteur Hong Kong Ltd" was created in 2002. Its aim is to raise funds to finance the development of cooperations between Institut Pasteur laboratories and Chinese research intitutions, to provide funding for Chinese post-doctoral students and researchers at the Institut Pasteur, and in particular, to support HKU-Pasteur Research Centre's research programme. Raised funds were used for a scholarship of a Chinese Ph.D. student in Institut Pasteur in Paris and for scientific equipment purchase at the Centre.

In August 2005, the sale of a special Hermès scarf "Au gré du vent" raised 43,000 euros for the association (visit our photo albums' page). The funds were used for scientific equipment purchase for the HKU-PRC's screening platform.

In May 2008, the association presented "From Plague to New Diseases: Chronicles of Pasteurian Research in Hong Kong", an all-ages educational exhibition celebrating the history of lifesaving scientific medical exchange between France and Hong Kong, in conjunction with the 120th anniversary of the Institut Pasteur.
