February 2008
>> Cell Imaging Workshop
- February 15, 2008, HKU-Pasteur Research Centre, 1/F, 8 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam, Hong Kong & Lecture Theatre 4, William MW Mong Block, 21 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam, Hong Kong -
The Cell Imaging Workshop on February 15, 2008 has been a great success. The workshop consisted of lectures and practical sessions. During the morning, Pr George Tsao (Department of Anatomy, HKU) gave an update on the Faculty of Medicine core imaging facility with a special focus on life cell imaging. Dr Béatrice Nal-Rogier, organizer of the workshop, presented projects and strategies of the Centre to visualize virus-host interactions and Dr Ria Oosterweld-Hut (Lambert Instruments, the Netherlands) gave a lecture on fluorescence lifetime imaging as a method to detect FRET. The attendance was high, with students and scientists coming from HKU and other local institutions indicating the growing interest for the development of imaging techniques. The pracctical sessions were designed to illustrate the power and application of the FLIM technique. They were originally scheduled on Friday afternoon, but because of the high number of applicants, two extra FLIM demonstration sessions were organised on February 16, 2008 at HKU-Pasteur Research Centre.
