Travel Insurance

You are strongly advised to purchase your own Travel Insurance before coming to Hong Kong. The University of Hong Kong is not responsible for medical or dental expenses incurred by students during the operation of the program.

Internet Access (HKU WIFI)

For those who wish to gain Internet access, you are advised to bring your own laptop. You need to register your network card through us before you can connect to the HKU wireless campus network.

You will need to provide us with your full name, team name and Network Card address (also known as Ethernet address or MAC (Media Access Control) address). 

If you do not know your Network Card address, please go to http://www.hku.hk/cc/faq/register-nic.htm.

You will need to provide these details on the first day of the competition during registration. If you fail to do so, internet access cannot subsequently be arranged. The Internet access will be available a few hours after the registration process is completed.

To ensure your Visa application is processed as quickly as possible, you are strongly advised to make an application to the Hong Kong Immigration Department (“HKID”) through the Faculty of Law, HKU. You are reminded that once the application process with HKID has started, you should not liaise with your local Chinese Embassy so as to avoid duplication.  

Please complete the form ID1003A  and send us the following documentation: 

(1) Applicant's recent photograph (55mm x 45 mm);

(2) Photography of the applicant's travel document containing the pages of personal particulars, date of issue, date of expiry and/or details of any re-entry visa held (if applicable);

(3) Photography of proof of transportation arrangement (eg. flight itinerary);

(4) For coaches/ national representatives: Proof of employment (eg. company leave letter or salary slip etc)/For students: Proof of student status (eg. Student Card). 

You are reminded HKID will not process with your application unless all of the above are provided. 

Please follow these steps in your Visa application:- 

(1)Complete the Form ID1003A and have the necessary documents ready;

(2)Upon completion, please scan and send the form ID1003A by email ( yumi.cheung@hku.hk ) first;

(3) Once I have checked everything is in order, I will then ask you to send me the original copies together with the necessary documents by DHL or FedEx to “Yumi Cheung (Ms.), Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong, 4/F K K Leung Building, Pokfulam Road, Hong Kong”;

(4) Once I have taken delivery, I will hand it in to Immigration Department;

(5) If the application is approved, the Immigration Department will then issue a VISA label for you. I will post the VISA label to you immediately. Please affix the label to one of the pages inside your passport. 

Please take action IMMEDIATELY so that the Immigration Department can start processing your visa applications.  The Guidebook ID1004 is also attached for your information.  

The visa application fee is HK$160 (approx. USD 22). There is an additional fee of HKD 200-300 as I will have to send the visa label to you from Hong Kong via DHL or FedEx.

DETAILS REGARDING DIETARY RESTRICTIONS
Part of the form requires details of vegetarian or other dietary restrictions. Please supply these details through national representatives.  We will need to inform restaurants and caterers well in advance!


ACCOMMODATION
You will need to make your own arrangements regarding accommodation. We have made some suggestions here.

LAW LIBRARY ACCESS
We can provide any teams arriving in Hong Kong on or before Tuesday, 6 April 2010 with access to Lui Che Woo Law Library at the Faculty until the end of that day.
Temporary access cards will need to be made for each visitor to the Library.  If you would like a card, please inform us through national representatives as the registration form is submitted.


Unfortunately, there will not be enough time for teams to visit the library during the days of ICCC 2010 itself.
