Dr. Chan teaches and writes in the areas of shipping law, international commercial law, information technology law and actuarial evidence.
He is the co-author of Halsbury's Laws of Hong Kong: Maritime Law (Vol.18) and Transport Law (Vol. 26) (Butterworths), Shipping and Logistics Law: Principles and Practice in Hong Kong (HKU Press) and Personal Injury Tables Hong Kong (Sweet & Maxwell). He has published in reputable journals such as Journal of Maritime Law and Commerce, International Journal of Shipping Law, Tort Law Review, Journal of Personal Injury Law, Law Probability & Risk, Singapore Journal of Legal Studies, Computer and Telecommunications Law Review and International Internet Law Review.
Apart from teaching in class and supervising doctoral students, Dr. Chan also coaches moot court teams participating in international competitions.
