Dr Firew Kebede Tiba

Firew is a native of Ethiopia. He received his LLB from Addis Ababa University with Distinction. He also holds LLMs in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the University of Pretoria (2001) and in International Economic and Business Law from Kyushu University in Japan (2004). His PhD in international dispute settlement was awarded by the University of Hong Kong in 2008. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Professional Legal Education of the Faculty of Law at HKU.
He was previously (1999-2003), a Lecture in Law at the Faculty of Law of the Ethiopian Civil Service College and a Research Officer with the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong (Aug 2008-July 2009).
A one time visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, a DAAD and Monbukagakusho Scholar; Firew has, among others, obtained several certificates in international law, human rights, humanitarian law, and international criminal law.
