Dr. Yu taught at the City University of Hong Kong before joining the Faculty of Law in January 1996 when he served as Assistant Professor. He was re-titled to Associate Professor in 2000 and became Professor in 2011. Over the last 15 years, he has had a prolific academic career, authoring more than 7 books, 40 articles and 30 papers spanning different areas of law. As one of the most active Chinese legal scholars, he delivers lectures at a large number of universities in China. His publications and lectures on China's institutional change, ranging from corporate governance, venture capital, legal services, reform of tort law and the insurance market to reform of the telecommunications sector and the electricity sector, have exerted considerable influence. Currently, he is the Director of the Centre for Chinese Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.
