Our ten faculties offer high-quality MPhil and PhD research postgraduate programmes in numerous advanced research areas and more than 110 full-time and part-time taught postgraduate programmes. These programmes cover a wide variety of specializations, ranging from medicine and dentistry to genomics and molecular biology; from law to education, arts and the social sciences; from business administration and economics to town planning and engineering; and from environmental conservation to material science.
The emphasis of the University's Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) research postgraduate programmes is on the production of a high quality thesis, though a coursework element is usually included to orient students to research methods and assist in thesis-writing. The taught postgraduate programmes lead either to a doctoral, or a master's degree or a diploma/certificate. The emphasis is on coursework, though some courses also require the submission of a dissertation.
