CASE-FATALITY RATIOS
A cumulative total of 8422 probable cases, with 916 deaths, were reported from 29 countries worldwide during the outbreak. A global case-fatality ratio of 11% was recorded. The overall case-fatality ratio of SARS in Hong Kong is approximately 15%. Risk factors associated with SARS-related mortality from Hong Kong include age, male sex, the presence of co-morbidity and health care seeking behaviour.
