The Hong Kong Statistical Society (HKSS) will hold a conference in December, 2005. Over the last decade our statistical community has grown significantly. The 2005 HKSS Conference provides us a good opportunity to review what we have achieved over the years and to think about the challenges ahead of us. Members of the society will gather together to present their recent work and learn more about others' research findings.

The conference welcomes contributions from any area of applied statistics, official statistics, statistical methodology or statistical theory.

Contributed papers, both applied and theoretical, are called for presentation at the conference. Please send a soft copy (preferably by e-mail or on disk) of the abstract of no more than 200 words (without any symbols or formulas) to us on or before October 1, 2005. Papers will not be accepted for presentation unless the registration fees are paid.

The 5th IASC Asian Conference on Statistical Computing (IascAsian05) co-organized by the Hong Kong Statistical Society (HKSS) will be concurrently held at the University of Hong Kong during 15-17 December, 2005. It provides a forum for researchers and practitioners, particularly those from Asian countries, to share their knowledge in the advancement of computational statistics and statistical data analysis and to foster interest and ideas in these areas. Participants to the HKSS Conference or the IascAsian05 Conference can freely attend all sessions of either conference on 17 December 2005.
